The Meshmix project aims to improve water quality in distribution networks. This approach makes it possible to find the ideal location and/or optimal management of network valves to ensure sufficient water quality. The issue of water quality degradation in the last few meters of the distribution network is the motivation behind this type of approach.

Tourist areas and the presence of second homes, as well as certain structural anomalies, are at the root of this type of problem. Added to this is the need for sizing related to fire protection, which leads to flow rates that are normally very low.
